44mm or 58mm? A Pin Badge Size Guide

A custom badge comes down to two decisions. What goes on it, which is entirely yours, and how big it is, which people tend to pick at random. Thirty seconds of thought on the second one is worth it, so here it is.

Mawlaii custom badges come in two sizes: 44mm and 58mm, measured straight across the face.

44mm is the one you're picturing

When someone says "pin badge", 44mm is the size in their head. It's about as wide as a large coin. Small enough to sit on a lapel, a cap or a bag strap without dragging the fabric down, and big enough to carry a clear image without a fight.

It's the right call for a single icon, a logo, a face, a simple illustration: anything that's essentially one strong shape. It's also the size to choose when you're ordering in bulk and the cost per badge matters, because it's the more economical of the two. And it's the better size for anything actually worn on clothing day to day, where a smaller badge simply sits better.

58mm is the one with room to talk

58mm is noticeably bigger, about a third more across, and that extra space changes what the badge can do. Words become comfortably readable. An illustration can keep its detail instead of collapsing into a blob. And the whole thing reads from across a room rather than across a table.

So 58mm is for anything with words on it: a name, a date, a phrase, a slogan. It's for detailed artwork that would lose its detail at the smaller size. It's for badges meant to be seen at a distance: a stall, a stand, an event. And it's the one to pick for a keepsake, where a bit of presence matters more than shaving a few rupees off the unit price.

The test, if you're still unsure

Hold your design at arm's length and imagine it shrunk to a coin. One bold shape? 44mm carries it easily. Got words you need a stranger to read, or detail you'd be sad to lose? Go to 58mm.

And when it really is a coin toss, size up. A design that's slightly too small on a 44mm badge looks cramped and apologetic. The same design on a 58mm badge just has a little air around it, and air has never hurt a badge.

One more thing worth knowing: you don't have to pick one size for the whole order. A wedding might want 58mm badges for the couple and 44mm for the guests. A stall might sell the big ones and give the small ones away. It's the same Custom Print Badge either way, so order whatever mix the day actually needs.
