More about this object
Why it matters
The nazar — the eye-shaped charm worn against ill wishes — appears across more cultures than almost any other symbol. Mediterranean, Levantine, South Asian, Hellenic, Mexican folk. Each culture took the same idea and rendered it in its own visual language: solid navy in Turkey, gold-edged ornamental in some Anatolian traditions, the Greek meander framing the eye in Hellenic crafts, a stylised sunburst in modern reinterpretations. This set holds four of those readings together — one box, four versions of the same protective intent.
The detail
Glossy laminated print on a nickel-free metal base. The lamination is what keeps the print sharp through a year of carrying — not a sticker, not a sublimation transfer that fades by month three. Each badge is 58mm — proper pin-badge scale, large enough to read across a room. The pinback is stainless steel, secure enough to ride a wool coat through a winter or a canvas tote through a year of weekday commutes.
How to use it
One on the lapel, one on a tote, one on a child's coat, one kept aside for the day someone you love opens a shop. Or split the set — gift one design to each of four friends, so each person gets a different reading of the same wish for them. The four arrive in our Rochcha flat box, ready to be wrapped or kept as-is.

What's in the set?
Four 58mm pin badges, each with a different interpretation of the protective eye motif. One classical Turkish nazar (solid navy with the concentric eye); one ornamental design (gold-teared eye on navy); one Greek-meander framed nazar on white; one stylised sunburst eye on white. All four share the same construction — printed and laminated on the same metal base, with the same stainless steel pinback.
Are these enamel pins or printed?
Printed. The artwork is a digital print on a metal blank, sealed under a clear glossy lamination layer. This is a different category from hard-enamel jewellery pins (which have raised metalwork). Our badges are smooth-surfaced, more like the classic button-badge construction — but with print quality that holds up to daily wear.
Can I gift just one?
Yes — the set is four different designs in one box, designed to be split if you want. Customers have gifted one design to each of four friends from a single purchase. Each person gets a different reading of the same protective wish.
What does the symbol mean?
The nazar is meant to reflect ill intent away from its wearer or owner. It's not religious in a strict sense — it appears across Muslim, Jewish, Christian, Hindu and Mediterranean folk traditions, usually as a domestic or wearable amulet rather than a sacred object. The four designs draw from different cultural variations of the same idea. Wear them because you like the design, or because someone gave them to you.
Are the pinbacks secure?
Yes — stainless steel pinback on each. They survive a wool coat through a winter and a canvas bag through a year of daily handling.
Will the print fade?
Not under normal use. The lamination layer protects the print from ordinary wear. It will dull if exposed to bleach, perfume, or solvent-based cleaning agents — keep them out of those. Avoid sustained direct sunlight if you want the colours fresh after years.

Practice
Rochcha makes drinkware and small objects in small runs — hand-glazed stoneware and steel-vacuum bottles, fired and finished in workshops we visit.
Why we chose them
What we admire is the weight. Pieces are made to outlast every cheap mug they share a shelf with, and they earn their place by feeling considered in the hand.
